I am the kind of person who keeps buying new books even though I have plenty on my bookshelves to keep me going for the next ten years.

Sitting looking out at the wind and rain last weekend, I decided it was a weekend for reading so I decided to indulge myself with one of my recent book purchases, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.

I was looking for an easy weekend read, and that is just what I got with this book. Set in a fictional Australian beach side town, I found myself immediately transported from the gloomy Irish weather outside to this sun soaked setting.

In this book we follow the journey of numerous residents of this not so peaceful community. The story centres around Jane, a single mother who has recently arrived to the area. As her son starts school, we find out that it is not going to be an easy ride for this new resident. Jane has arrived to the town with a secret, pair that with schoolyard quibbles, lies, scandals and busy-body mothers, Jane is set for a bumpy journey, and I must say you will find it extremely difficult to put this book down.

I really enjoyed this book for its original story line, likable characters and it's ability to keep me entertained on a rainy, miserable weekend. There are elements of domestic violence throughout this book, but the author has really done herself justice to the issue and it will open eyes for a lot of people.

A great example of an easy, weekend read that will leave you yearning for more.
