Much time is spent in school and college, reading, analysing and discussing the different styles of various authors. Would you say that your own writing has been influenced by one or more of these authors?

As a teenager, my prose writing was highly influenced by Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide, Dirk Gently) but my poetry was rather more influenced by TS Eliot. Nowadays, I'm not sure! Maybe I've finally settled down into my own style or perhaps I'm just not as aware of the influences any more.
I don't think I pay enough attention to any author's style to be particularly influenced by them. I just write how comes naturally for me.
I am enjoying Alexandra Potter's books at the moment. She writes her novels in a style similar to the way I think. I love the ways she describes things and some of her philosophy on life. I would be good friends with some of her main characters if they were real people. If I was to write a novel I think my style would have some similarities to hers. This is not so much because of her influence but we just seem to have some similarities in the way we think.
