This month I'm reading Day Boy by Brisbane author Trent Jamieson. It's a vampire story set in Ausralia and I'm hoping to hear a talk by the author at the Brisbane Writer's Festival on the weekend. I'm also just about to finish volume 1 of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (she's a superhero who is a woman with the proportionate strength and speed of a squirrel. Yes, really) and one essay from the end of Men Explain Things To Me by Rebecca Solnitt, which is takes its name from an essay the author wrote about mansplaining (though she doesn't like the word), and I'm listening to the audiobook version of Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong from the urban fantasy series Women of the Otherword.
I'm reading Last night in Twisted River by John Irving. I went through a John Irving phase about 15 years ago so I thought I'd give this one a try. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but it certainly seems to be having the usual tragedy Mr Irving is known for. So far so good. But I will probably still be reading this at Christmas time lol Sadly I'm still not getting much time for reading.
I am reading The Drafter by Kim Harrison. A fantasy and the first book I have read by this author. I will be looking for more.
A woman brought it back to the library and said she didn't like science fiction and then described a bit about it. I jumped at it. What a great way to find a new book!
