Produced by the cofounders and creative directors of
Flow magazine, this little book is the perfect accompaniment to living a life of mindfulness. Sometimes, in the rush of everyday living, we forget to take the time to just be, and to sit back and enjoy the simple things in life.
This book aims to help you do just that.
Featuring whimsical and pretty illustrations by Dutch artist Deborah van der Schaaf, readers are given a checklist of sorts where they can find happiness in simple activities or moments. Each page contains one activity or life moment, along with an accompanying illustration, which is meant to inspire happiness. Some of the pages also feature a quote, a fact, a recipe or a list, which is relevant to the checkpoint on the adjoining page, and which aims to take that checkpoint a step further.
Some of the experiences in this book are obvious pleasers, like an evening out, reading a book, sipping from your favourite mug or having in your possession a tray full of homemade cookies. But this book also contains some of those pleasurable moments that you probably wouldn’t think of until they occurred. These include having a fit of the giggles, drawing on a frosty window, shamelessly singing in the shower, seeing bare branches etched in the moonlight and receiving a cocktail umbrella in your drink.
With hundreds of moments captured in text and drawings, this is one little book that will inspire you to relax and take it easy. Just flicking through the pages will remind you that sometimes the free and/or simple pleasures in life can be the best.
