Reading is enjoyable in its own right.

Can snacking while reading enhance the experience or have the opposite effect? What do you think? Do you like to have some nibbles while you read? Perhaps a coffee or a drink?

No, I don't eat while I read; I want both my hand free for holding the book or changing the page. It would also cut the enjoyment out of both activities, because only have my attention would be dedicated to each task.
I usually will have a drink but not food, as I'm too worried about dropping crumbs in my book!
No, not food. Sometimes a tea or wine...
I sure do -I often read on the bed, and eat peanuts or some such while I read.

It slows down the reading and I end up with peanut shells in bed, and vow not to do it again, however still do it.

None of the above. I just like to read & concentrate on that. Don't want 'spillages' on book, either!
But I will have 'nibblies' watching TV!
