book, loan, borrow

Lending books to friends can be a great way to share your favourite reading experiences, but it can also be a frustrating thing if you have to chase up on getting your books back in your library.

Do you loan books and have a policy about it? Do you lose books to people you loan them to? Does it bother you?

Inversely, do you borrow books from your friends? Are you diligent to return them after you have finished reading?

I am guilty of taking a long time to return borrowed books because I'm busy and have a lot to read, but keep borrowing, and sometimes buying, more than I really have time for. I always do return them eventually, and in the same condition I borrowed in, but I take ages.

I loan them to people, and once in a while I lose one that way, so I wouldn't lend anyone a book that it would break my heart to lose.
I do lend books, but more often than not, they never return, and I forget which book I had given to which friend. On the same token, books end up in my shelves and I have no clue who they belong to. Oops.
I don't have any friends to lend them too. I lend books to my dad to read, but we live in the same house, so I don't know if that really counts.
I am too generous with lending my books, as sometimes they are never returned to me :(
I have so many books losing one or two through lending would not break my heart unless it was one of my home made photo books.
I get my books from op shops so when I have finished with them I give them to friends.

If it is a fiction book, I rarely want it back as despite collecting books, I have rarely kept a fiction book apart from children's books.

No! I loan nothin' to nobody! Sounds mean, but that way I've never had anything not returned to me!
I don't 'loan' books, CD's or DVD's. That way, I don't lose them!

Conversely, I will accept a loan of books or DVD's from one, & only one, friend. There's no 'time limit' placed by her on the loan, BUT I ensure I return item to her the next time we meet, which is usually about every three months.
