I love Goodreads! Not long ago I decided to make time in my busy day to get back to what I love - reading. I think I stumbled across a book review on Goodreads and that's how I found them.
I didn't really know what genres I liked so reading the reviews was really helpful, plus the site suggests books I might like based on my 'book shelf' I find a book I want to read, add it to my 'to read' shelf, then borrow it from my local library (the best thing is that it's free!) Once i've read the book, I can rate and review it and change my status to 'read' The site is a great way of recording what you want to read and what you have read and it doesn't cost a cent.
An added bonus is the 'giveaways' where authors give away copies of their books in exchange for a (voluntary) review.
Yes, I've found it a great way to keep track of books that I would like to read one day. When I have those moments where I spot an interesting book, or someone recommends one, I pull out my phone and use the Goodreads app to add it to my 'to read' list. That way I'll never again be wondering what that really good book was that I wanted to read but can't remember the title of.
I've never used it. I do read books based on people's recommendations; I read them on whether they sound interesting to me, or by a particular author I like. I like discovering books in shops rather than hearing about them online.
I am a daily user of Goodreads and think its one of the best sites out there at the moment. I love the ability to be able to keep track of books I have read whilst also finding new books that are recommended based on your own reading history. I also love the social aspect to it where you can find friends and exchange book reviews. 5 stars!!
