Bridget is back and with a bang!

From the moment I heard Helen Fielding was writing another Bridget Jones book, I must say I almost had a Bridget moment myself by nearly falling off my chair. There are not too many book series that have that impact on me, and I must say, yet again, she did not let me down!

From the moment I began reading the book it was like being reacquainted with an old friend who I had not seen in years, however even in our time apart, we bonded in an instant. From the get-go, Bridget is her usual silly self and we are reminded almost instantly of the chaos and havoc that is her life. She has never made things easy on herself and this book is no different. Although she is now 51, her maturity level seemed to have peaked in her thirties. She now has two young children who she had with Mark Darcy, however Spoiler Alert, we learn that that relationship was not meant to be as Mark sadly passed away. This, I must say was a major shocker for me. I really expected this to be the happy ending Bridget so desperately sought after, as I’m sure all her fans will agree. But in true Bridget fashion, four years after his death she is back on the horse, trying to find love, or lust, once again.

This book follows Bridget on that journey. Through Twitter, Dating websites or even school events, Bridget really goes all out in her attempt to find a new man, while also trying to cope with the fact that she is getting older.

I have probably given too much away already, so I won’t say much more, but I really think this is a great read. In true Bridget style, it doesn’t lack in comedy, romance, love, loss, tears and every thing in between. Meeting a more mature Bridget is also quite interesting as I often wondered what she would be like, needless to say she hasn’t changed a bit which is why I am so happy with this book!

A couple of months ago I put a hold on this book through the library. I picked it up yesterday and am now looking forward even more to reading it.
