Best H.P. Lovecraft story?

My favourite is The Call of Cthulhu because it was the first one I read and it kind of sets up the whole mythos. It's also a cracking good story.

You know the Wikipedia's written by humans, right? ;)
He's a horror author, who wrote mostly short stories. There's an undercurrent of racism and xenophobia to them, but the context is important. Can't say whether you'd like him or not, best try some and see. It's pretty widely available in public libraries and you can read some of it for free online.
