Saving Fish From Drowning is, in my opinion, Tan's most hilarious book. From the opening line, "It was not my fault", you know you're in for an interesting ride. And the story is quite breathtaking. Highlighting the ignorance and naivety of humans the world over. I found this book to be extremely clever, at times frustrating in its description of some of the characters' stupidity, and most entertaining. It's a book vastly different from Tan's other works, and a wonderful one.
Amy Tan is one of those authors I keep hearing about but never quite get around to reading. Maybe it's time to bump her up my queue a bit.
Try The Joy Luck Club as your first Amy Tan novel, there's so much to the book. It's a window into another world, really hope you enjoy it, if you get a copy!
