#Young Writers

If you're 18-25 and ready to show the world your finest short stories then you need to be entering the State Library of Queensland Young Writers Award. Up for grabs, apart from the bragging rights, is $2000 for the winner and $500 for the runner up, plus some great opportunities to kick start your writing career.

Stories must be 2500 words or less and entries close July 18, 2014.

All the information you'll need to enter is on the SLQ website along with great advice on writing short stories, and previous winner's entries.

There are also free workshops to help you get started, on the Gold Coast June 14, Goondiwindi June 21 and Brisbane on June 28. Details are on the SLQ website.

“Short stories are tiny windows into other worlds and other minds and other dreams. They are journeys you can make to the far side of the universe and still be back in time for dinner.”
― Neil Gaiman
